Limitations
- Second Site only supports TMG datasets that use the "ASCII" (TMG v4) or "Machine" (TMG v5+) or "General" (TMG v5+) collating sequences. If you use a different sequence, you must change to one of the above sequences before using Second Site, and then reset it back to your preferred setting after using Second Site. See the Language Section.
- Second Site does not process embedded citations when they are in the sentence definition; Second Site does recognize embedded citations in event memos.
- Second Site does not support the [INDEX:] and [:INDEX] printer codes. They are ignored. The data between the codes is suppressed.
- If there are hundreds of images on a page, as might happen if an icon is assigned to everyone on an index page, Microsoft Internet Explorer will sometimes fail to display the image.
- TMG allows two files (such as a JPG file and a WAV file) to reside in a single exhibit; Second Site only supports one.
Workarounds
- Second Site cannot determine whether the Source Categories in TMG version 4 datasets are based upon Mills, Lackey, or Custom categories; the user must set a preference using the File > Preferences > Source Category... command to indicate which system is in use. Second Site can determine the Source Category in use for TMG version 5+ datasets.
See Files > Preferences > Source Category.
- Internet Explorer users are plagued by a security warning that affects people browsing web pages that reside on their own PCs. This affects Second Site users.
See the Mark of the Web page for a description of this issue.
Troubleshooting
- Slow site generation using Make Site?
- Try using TMG's File > Maintenance > Optimize command. The Optimize command removes deleted records from the physical data files and also recreates the indexes.
